Harbor Church is a warm community of faith which seeks to serve the entire island as followers of Jesus. We are affiliated with American Baptist Churches, but our membership includes persons of many denominations and we welcome visitors from all over to our services. Sunday morning worship is always at 10:00 am year-round, followed by a coffee hour.  A Bible study for adults is held on Thursday at 7:00 pm. On Friday nights we host the Common Ground Coffeehouse with soup, coffee, and refreshments at 6:30 and entertainment (live performers, games, movies, check our weekly schedule) at 7:00 pm.

Harbor Church hosts many community groups in our facilities, including AA meetings, BIRA, the Wellness Coalition, Bridge Club, Prayer Shawl Ministry, Ecumenical Choir, Helping Hands Food Pantry, and Block Island Poetry Project.  The Spring Street Gallery (nee The Barn) is housed in our old barn. In addition we host the town-run Rec Center in the space below our sanctuary during the school year and operate the International Students Center in summer. Vacation Bible School runs for a week in early August (look for updates in the spring).  Harbor Church also sponsors Block Island Boy Scouts who meet on our lower level.

Our new Pastor, Peter Preiser and his wife, Carrie, joined us this month and preached his first sermon as our Pastor September 16.

This year, First Baptist Church of Block Island (aka Harbor Church) celebrates 253 years of organized existence, but our roots go back to the faith of the original settlers of the island.
