This week we are moving Common Ground Coffeehouse to Saturday, September 2, at 7:00 p.m. Mark Kelso will return with a new performance of his musical “Luci: Fall of the Bright Morning Star” starring Chelsea LeSage (a professional model and actress) as Luci, with other cast members including Steve as a cleric. The musical imagines the fall of Lucifer (here female) as a broken love relationship with God and the consequences when Luci goes to the earth. Donations—and even investments in the show as it hopes for off-Broadway—will be welcomed.
Friday, September 8, at 7:00 p.m: Kala Farmham, a young singer-songwriter from CT who plays piano, guitar, and harp. Her last two CDs were nominated as Best Americana Album in the Motif magazine poll. She won the 2017 Rhode Island Songwriters Contest. This year she was invited to be one of 12 writers from around the world invited to the Johnny Mercer Songwriters Project. One Providence venue owner wrote, “"This is what happens when a truly gifted musician invests a lifetime perfecting her skills but somehow maintains the spontaneity of a young and curious poet. It is rare to find both paths intertwining so comfortably together.” Free supper starting at 6:30.
